Fashion Merchandiser Supply Chain Product Administrator
The Company
Our Client specialise in producing bespoke, high quality fabrics predominantly for the men's neckwear and couture womenswear markets.
Our Client is a long established silk weaver. The company have been based in Suffolk since 1894 and have been weaving fine silk jacquards since then. Our Client has been silk weavers for nine generations.
Our Client employs a large creative and technical design team which develops trends, new ideas and directions for the global market and they are supported by an extensive archive of historic designs.
Our Client has facilities to dye an extensive range of pure silks and other yarns which enables them to produce designs from concept to final product. Using the latest weaving technology, they custom-weave fabrics from a variety of fibres including pure silk and other noble fibres: linen, cashmere, fine wool and cotton.
Our Clients customer base include leading International brands and designers in the USA, Italy, France, Japan, Germany, the UK and others.
The Role
The role that is available is for a Merchandiser/Supply Chain and Product Administrator.
Our Client is looking for an individual to work as an administrator to their agents, suppliers, and customers within the International market.
Key tasks of the role will include:
- maintaining information systems and the order schedule (offshore and domestic), from order raising to delivery notes & invoicing
- constantly updating the product database; logging on and off samples and approvals, for trial and bulk stages
- preparing job notes and product specifications (predominantly silk ties) for mostly domestic suppliers
- preparing colour sheets and fabric specifications (predominantly silk weave, some print) for mostly offshore suppliers
- ordering, collating and sending relevant components to suppliers to complete tie orders
- negotiating with suppliers (predominantly tie makers) on new orders, due dates, progress chasing, monitoring deliveries, prices, credits, etc.
- liaising with our warehouse and managing (often same day) inspection and despatch of goods
- liaising with shipping department re. export and import handling, paperwork, invoices and credits
- liaising with and managing despatch of goods from our warehouse
- raising product costings
- daily e-mailed correspondence with offshore suppliers and overseas agents
- liaison with shippers and forwarders (supported by our export department)
- instigating invoices and credit (with support from our accounts department)
- archiving all development and approved bulk fabrics and products
- working with the account managers and (in-house) agents and occasionally, direct with the customers, in the various territories on sales related needs and delivering excellent customer service
The Person
The Individual they are looking for will have experience in order processing, product specifications and database management. A good understanding of Fashion trends is also a preferred attribute.
The Individual should possess the following key skills:

The Rewards
The starting salary for this position is between £14K-£18K depending on experience.
