PMA are also proud to announce a new in-house tuition structure offering the best regional tuition on a wide range of instruments.
Lessons are from 3pm - 7.30pm weekdays and from 9.00 - 3.00 on Saturdays.
All lessons cost £25p/h and teacher allocation will be made on induction lesson. 15% discount on block booking 6+ lessons. Lessons are taught in-house out the PMA studios close to Ipswich Town centre.
Meet the team:
Marty Prior: Advanced Bass, Double Bass, Song writing, Electric & Acoustic Guitar, and Drums
Marty is a double bass & electric bass player/composer. At 35 years old Marty started playing music at the age of 3. He has to date, toured extensively and recorded in many professional studios with a variety of recording artists some of them very well known! Most recently recording with Max Middleton (Jeff Beck Group, Chris Rea,) and played live with Gregg Wright from California, USA (Ex Michael Jackson, The Jacksons, Mick Fleetwood's Zoo, The Gap Band, Spencer Davis). Marty is available for one to one or group bass lessons from absolute beginners right through to advanced. He is currently seeking management and is going into the studio early September/October 2009 to record a debut album. Marty is also fully Pro Tools 8 and Logic 8 compliant and available for sessions live and recording work.
Joe Bailey: Music Technology, Beginners to Intermediate guitar, Film & Video editing and band performance coaching.
Joe is the owner of Punch Studios of which he set up in January 2009. He is a talented musician playing guitar, bass and drums. After moving to Suffolk and playing the local gig circuit for the last 5 years he is now concentrating on producing and engineering new young bands in his recording studio and beating the drums for ‘Circus-Circus’. Joe is also a Film and Video production graduate (2:1 BA hons) and has written, produced and directed short films that have been shown in independent cinemas.
Richard Tyler, guitar and bass:
Richard has toured nationally with Rosalita in support of single releases playing over 300 gigs in three and a half years. The band had lots of radio play including Radio 1, 6 Music and XFM as well as many regional stations. He’s also played V festival as well as numerous European festivals. Richard has supported some notable acts including The Jam, Sparks, The Damned, Towers of London, Rumble Strips, Air Traffic, Jack Penate, Dirty Pretty Things, Frank Turner, The Enemy, The Datsuns, Florence and The Machine as well as recording a session at BBC Maida Vale Studios. A graduate from Colchester Institute with a 2.1 BA(Hons) in Music majoring in Performance Richard has four years teaching experience working in schools, private lessons and has been involved in rock school and percussion workshops.
Phil Robinson: Drums & percussion
Phil has over 25 years drums and percussion experience. After a long period of training in traditional percussion (as well as trombone and music theory), Phil performed and toured with concert bands, orchestras, and big bands. Phil then specialised in kit playing and has since covered pretty much all bases; funk, rock, folk, jazz, indie, C&W, drum & bass and some genres that defy labelling. He has a wealth of recording experience spanning 20 years and recorded for the legendary John Peel on three occasions. Phil is CRB checked and would be happy to work with people of any ability.
Sophie Tott: DJ, mixing and production
Sophie’s DJ career has taken her from the best clubs in London, to tours in India; club residencies in Dubai; guest slots at Space Ibiza; festivals in Sicily; clubs, beach parties and bars in Poland, France, Portugal, Spain and Mexico; across to Hed Kandi in Greece, and then back again to her hometown at the Guilfest Festival. Anyone keen on a career DJing, or who simply wants to have some fun learning about it
will benefit from the wealth of technical and industry knowledge she brings to her sessions. Also a composer, Sophie composed her first piece on a Playstation, and it featured on One Dot Zero TV. Now using Logic, she has had her house remixes released on Room Control, and Toolbox Records, and more recently, her compositions have featured on FitnessTV, Sky, and provide the soundtrack for a new range of innovative pre-natal classes at Lazy
Lizzie Williamson: Vocals & Keyboard
Libby Williamson is one of the most exciting young talents to emerge on the Ipswich scene. Her unique writing style is jam packed with fresh ideas and gives a provoking account of urban youth today. Libby draws on her life experiences and those of her friends and family to create clever lyrics, funky beats and beautiful melody lines. She makes use of the wide range of vocal tuition she has received to create her own jazz/blues sound. When you see Libby live you are guaranteed a powerful, passionate performance full of spirit and character. Libby is a local girl from Ipswich but learnt a lot from her time spent in Bath and Bristol, where she developed her voice and musical ideas at university before returning to her hometown.
Gavin MacKenzie: Production, Abelton live & Reason
Gavin is the resident engineer at Punch Studios and draws on a wealth of experience gained in studios over the past 5 years. If you are interested in creating beats, exploring dance, house and electronic music/production then Gavin has the tools and knowledge to equip you.
