There is now a legitimate place for computer games in the workplace and education. In a creative and interactive session the Suffolk e-learning forum will introduce delegates to innovative and exciting game based learning resources. The theme for the first Suffolk e-learning forum is "Game Based Learning" and will include a range of speakers, demonstrations and breakouts.

This event is the first of its kind for Ipswich with leading speakers coming to the area including Dan Mayers and Scott Hewitt. Dan is an experienced Games Designer having worked for Eidos and Disney; his portfolio includes work on the Tomb Raider series and he is now involved in several Game Based Learning Projects. Scott Hewitt has worked in e-learning for 15 years for clients including the NHS, The National Trust and The Royal Television Society and is now heaviliy involved in game based learning development.

Following on from the success of a similar event in Norwich earlier this year there has been considerable interest in the event with it providing a platform lively discussion, lectures and networking with other delegates. Students from the Computer Game Design Degree at University Campus Suffolk will also be showing learning games that they have designed and created providing them with a showcase.

The Suffolk elearning forum is organised by Real Projects and supported by University Campus Suffolk (UCS). Scott Hewitt said "There is now evidence and case studies to support the effect that learning games have. The use of learning games is becoming more widespread and the Suffolk e-learning forum provides an opportunity for people to come and find out more."

The Computer Games Degree at University Campus Suffolk reflects this trend with students designing learning games in their first year. Real Projects is working with the Computer Games Degree course at University Campus Suffolk and Scott Hewitt said "We are delighted to support the University Campus Suffolk Games Degree it is very exciting to work on a project bringing together e-learning and computer game design. Everyone involved is really looking forward to working with the students to develop innovative learning games."

The event takes place at the University Campus Suffolk Waterfront Building on Wednesday 11th November from 1pm until 4pm. The event is free but places are limited and booking is essential. You can reserve a ticket by visiting www.suffolkelearningforum.co.uk
